China kindergarten attack kills six, sparks safety worries

BEIJING, July 10 (BNA): A 25-year-old man is suspected of attacking a kindergarten in China’s Guangdong Province on Monday, killing six people and injuring one, raising concerns about violence against children at the school.

Media reported that the attack in Lianjiang County in the southern province was a stabbing. The suspect, who has the surname Wu and belongs to Lianjiang, has been arrested, police said, adding that they are investigating the matter, according to Reuters.

Some media reported that both adults and children were among the victims.

While violent crime is rare in China due to strict gun laws and high security, stabbing incidents in kindergartens over the past few years have raised concerns about school safety.
