Bahrain’s two-month outdoor afternoon work ban begins Saturday

Manama, June 30 (BNA): On Saturday, July 1, Bahrain will ban outdoor work for two months during the afternoon.


The Ministry of Labor said that the ban on working under direct sunlight and in open spaces will continue from midday until 4 p.m.


The goal is to protect workers and ensure their safety from heat stress, sunstroke and various summer diseases, and to reduce occupational accidents during the hot months of the year.


On this occasion, Labor Minister Jamil bin Muhammad Ali Humaidan stressed the importance of applying occupational safety principles and requirements to ensure a safe, accident-free and productive work environment.


He pointed out that specialized teams at the Ministry of Labor will carry out field visits and inspection campaigns to ensure full compliance with the provisions of Resolution No. (3) of 2013 regarding the ban on working in open areas in July and August.


The minister called on employers to continue their annual commitment to implement the decree in order to preserve the safety and health of workers, and to take all organizational measures, including rescheduling working hours, so as not to affect the workflow. Highlighting the human and economic dimensions of the fatwa.


Article (192) of Law No. 36 of 2012 promulgating the Labor Law in the private sector stipulates a penalty of imprisonment not exceeding three months and/or a fine of BD 500 to BD 1,000.
