External financial assets of China’s banking sector hit $1.57 trillion

Beijing, June 30 (BNA): Official data showed today, Thursday, that the external financial assets of the Chinese banking sector exceeded 1.57 trillion US dollars by the end of March.

The banking sector’s overseas financial liabilities amounted to 1.41 trillion US dollars at the end of March, resulting in 153.9 billion US dollars in net overseas assets, according to data from the China State Administration of Foreign Exchange, Xinhua reports.

In overseas financial assets, deposit and loan assets amounted to about 1 trillion US dollars, accounting for 64% of the total, and bond assets amounted to 354.4 billion US dollars, accounting for 23% of the total.


In external liabilities, deposit and loan liabilities amounted to $823.1 billion or 58 percent of the total, while equity and other liabilities amounted to $366.3 billion or 26 percent of the total.
