Bahrain’s efforts to promote alternatives sanctions hailed

Manama, June 19 (BNA): The Director General of Implementation of Alternative Sentences and Sentences, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, received officials from the American Bar Association.

He welcomed the guests, stressing that alternative punishments and opening prisons are part of the reform project of the Minister of Interior, Major General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.

It is also part of the government’s dedication, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to strengthen the implementation of the Penal Code, Alternative Measures and the Open Prisons Programme.

He added that the Ministry of Interior, under the instructions of the Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, has dedicated itself to applying the best international standards to strengthen the criminal justice system and human rights.

The meeting reviewed the General Directorate of Provisions Enforcement, alternative provisions for law enforcement, and the rehabilitation and training programs provided to beneficiaries. The two sides discussed cooperation and coordination in exchanging experiences and training programmes.

The two officials praised the directorate’s efforts to increase the beneficiaries of the law.
