Philipsen secures hat trick of Tour de France stage wins, Vingegaard stays in yellow

Paris, July 7 (BNA): Belgian cyclist Jasper Philipsen scored a hat-trick in the Tour de France stages by winning a group sprint in Bordeaux and keeping defending champion Jonas Vingaard in the yellow jersey on Friday.

Philipsen was expertly led to the front by his Alpecin-Deceuninck teammate, then comfortably countered a move by veteran sprinter Mark Cavendish.

The Associated Press (AP) reports that Beniam Jermay completed the podium.

Philipsen has won all of his sprints to date and has taken his career tally to five stage tours. He also won two stages last year.
