Specialists from National Genome Centres to train at Harvard University

Manama, June 21 (BNA): A delegation representing the Bahrain National Genome Center has joined the prestigious American Harvard University in a training program for several months.

Scholarship professionals will be trained extensively in sequencing the human DNA of the Bahraini community, and analyzing samples documented for genetic mutations.

Participants will receive practical and theoretical training in the analysis of genetic data and its applications in scientific research and healthcare.

Scholarship students will also participate in joint research projects with research teams at Harvard University, giving them the opportunity to learn about the latest techniques and methods in the field of genomics and to better identify genetic diseases.

Selected based on their experience and competencies in the field of genomics, this training gives them the opportunity to learn the latest medical technologies and analyze genomic data.

They will also be trained in clinical genetic diagnosis, increase knowledge in the field of advanced genomic research, and learn about modern technologies in force at Harvard University.

The results of the training will contribute to developing new diagnostic tools and treatments for genetic diseases and improving the quality of healthcare in Bahrain by providing advanced and specialized medical services to patients.

The scientific result will also open new horizons for scientific research and innovation in the field of genomes, which will contribute to achieving a positive impact on the future of genetic research and healthcare in Bahrain at the local and international levels.

The National Genome Center was launched in 2018 in two phases. The first stage included collecting samples, while the second stage included analyzing and studying genetic mutations within the Bahraini community, and linking them to phenotypes, in addition to preparing clinical genetic reports for the individual and the community.
