Paris, July 22 (BNA): Defending Danish champion Jonas Vinggaard is set to win his second Tour de France title after staying close to main rival and stage 20 winner Tadezh Pogacar in the race’s mountainous finale on Saturday.

Two-time Tour winner Pogacar, whose title hopes evaporated when Vingaard crushed him in the time trial on Tuesday and cracked on the last Alpine stage on Wednesday, claimed victory the next day after 133.5km from Belfort, edging past Austrian Felix Gall to claim his second win in this year’s race.

Overall, the Jumbo-Visma Vingegaard rider leads Pogacar by seven minutes and 29 seconds with his UAE teammate, Briton Adam Yates, in third, 10:56 off the lead, according to Reuters.

Italy’s Giulio Ciccone took the mountains classification’s polka-dot jersey, and Belgium’s Jasper Philipsen is set to win the points classification’s green jersey, provided they both cross the finish line in Paris on Sunday.
