Oil climbs, rouble falls as markets take mutiny in stride

Manama, June 26 (BNA): Oil recorded a slight increase on Monday, and the ruble fell to a 15-month low early in Moscow.

Brent crude futures rose 0.2 percent to $74.02 a barrel, after earlier gaining as much as $74.80.

MSCI’s index of Asia-Pacific stocks outside Japan fell to a three-week low, as slight declines in China, Taiwan and Australia offset slight gains in South Korea, Reuters reported.

Japan’s Nikkei index fell 0.1 percent. The battered yen rose slightly on hints of imminent government intervention to shore it up and after a summary shows the central bank’s board called for an early review of yield curve control.

European futures were up 0.3%, S&P 500 futures were up 0.2% and FTSE futures were up 0.1%.
