TRA signs MoU with US FCC

Manama, June 18 (BNA): The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) participated in the International Telecommunications Union’s Global Symposium for Telecommunications Regulators (GSSR-23) led by Philippe Marnik, Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), where he reviewed Bahrain’s leading position in the field of telecommunications.

On the sidelines of the 2023 ITU GSR-23 conference, the TRA held meetings with several international regulators and ITU officials.

The Communications Regulatory Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to formalize the bilateral relations between the two organizations. The agreement was signed by Jessica Rosenworcel, chair of the Federal Communications Commission, and Philip Marnick, director general of the Communications Regulatory Authority.

The MOU will increase coordination between the CRA and the FCC, enabling discussions and sharing of best practices on issues such as 5G technologies, spectrum licensing, broadband deployment, universal and accessible communications, automated calls, and secure networks.

“In our increasingly interconnected world, it is important for regulators to collaborate, share ideas and best practices and work together to enhance protection for consumers. This collaboration will also support our efforts to further enhance services in Bahrain,” said Philippe Marneck, Director General. From the TRA said.
