Anti-human trafficking committee discusses US State Department’s recommendations

Manama, July 6 (BNA): Nof Abdul Rahman Jamsheer, CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority and chairwoman of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, stressed the importance of reviewing and continuously developing all regulatory procedures and decisions in line with the changes that occur in the work environment, which contributes to strengthening the Kingdom’s position in providing Suitable working conditions for investors, businessmen and workers alike.

This came during the second meeting of the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking, which dealt with aspects of coordination and cooperation between government agencies concerned with the system of combating human trafficking, and areas of cooperation with international organizations, in the fields of training. In addition to strengthening the Kingdom’s efforts to participate with the international community to address cross-border crime by exchanging expertise and experiences with countries wishing to develop their procedures.

The meeting also discussed the recommendations contained in the report of the US State Department regarding the classification of countries in the field of combating human trafficking, and to consider the recommendations that are compatible with the specificity of the work environment in the Kingdom to implement them, and to develop an action plan for their implementation.

The meeting stressed the importance of continuity of work and enforcement of the committee’s terms of reference stipulated in Article (8) of Law (1) of 2008 regarding combating human trafficking, and strengthening the Kingdom’s position in this field regionally and globally. internationally.

It is noteworthy that the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking includes representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, the Supreme Judicial Council, the Public Prosecution Office, the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, the Ministry of Social Development and the Supreme Judicial Council. The Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, in addition to representatives of civil society organizations such as the Bahrain Observatory for Human Rights, the Bahraini Society for Tolerance and Interfaith Coexistence, and the Bahraini Society for Human Rights.
