Alcaraz finds some late inspiration to win 1st match at Queen’s Club as Murray exits

LONDON, June 20 (BNA): Carlos Alcaraz’s first grass-court match outside Wimbledon is proving to be a tough one, reports the Associated Press.

Playing top seed Alcaraz for the first time at the Queen’s Club Championship, he came from a set down on Tuesday to win 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (3) against lucky loser Arthur Renderkneich, the 83rd-ranked, who discovered he was only playing after a withdrawal Arthur Fells two hours before the game.

Alcaraz struggled with Renderknicch’s big serve and net coverage in the Spanish No. 2’s seventh career match on grass, and his first away from the All England Club.

Alcaraz rallied from a break early in the third set and dominated the tiebreaker, which began with an epic point that saw Alcaraz fall to the floor after racing to the net to seal the win across the court.
