Manama, Nov. 6 (BNA): The Ministry of Industry and Commerce held meetings with the executive team of the Industrial Cooperation Committee to review GCC Industrial Integration.

The meetings discussed aspects of achieving the unified strategic objectives of industrial development among the GCC countries.

They highlighted initiatives aimed at reaching integration in supply chains, developing local talents, and supporting the transformation of the industrial sector towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The meetings reviewed new investment opportunities to establish joint industries.

One of the meetings aimed to identify the priorities of the Gulf industrial system and initiatives that would achieve industrial integration, based on the guidance of the GCC Ministers of Industry.

Eman Al Dosari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, said that the promising industrial sector is regarded by the Bahraini government, embodied in the launch of an ambitious strategy for the development of industry as part of the economic recovery plan.

The plan is based on a number of foundations such as supporting the industrial sector’s adoption of the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to increase productivity and efficiency, supporting investment in technological infrastructure and digitizing manufacturing, promoting the concepts of a circular carbon economy, and encouraging the sector to adopt environmental and social governance.

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce in Bahrain launched a number of initiatives recently, such as the iFactories Program, which aims to transform 300 factories into advanced and sustainable factories by 2026, and the In-Country Value in Industry (Takamul) program to enhance local productions,  in addition to Bahrain’s accession to the Integrated Industrial Partnership with the UAE, Jordan, and Egypt.
