Jeddah, June 29 (BNA): The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) today strongly condemned the burning of a copy of the Noble Qur’an outside the Grand Mosque in Stockholm, after the Eid al-Adha prayers.
“This hateful act committed by extremists stirs up hatred, exclusion and racism, and undermines mutual respect and coexistence among peoples. It also contradicts international efforts to spread the values of tolerance, moderation and rejection of extremism.”
The organization urged the governments involved in the incident to take effective measures to prevent the recurrence of such an act.
She renewed her commitment to abide by the Charter of the United Nations, encouraging respect for human rights and fundamental rights for all at the global level without any discrimination.
The statement said that freedom of expression must be respected with a sense of responsibility in accordance with human rights laws and rules
