In his speech before the ministerial meeting of the Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement, Ambassador Dr. Ibrahim Youssef Al-Abdullah affirmed the Kingdom’s belief in the importance of the Non-Aligned Movement’s role in promoting joint action to end wars and settle regional and international differences and disputes by peaceful means. In this regard, he highlighted Bahrain’s efforts to overcome the repercussions of the Covid-19 epidemic by providing sustainable, high-quality health and treatment services for all, and launching a comprehensive package of financial and economic programs to support the most affected individuals and sectors without discrimination. .

He also highlighted Bahrain’s launch of an integrated economic recovery plan, in addition to its humanitarian initiatives to provide medical and relief aid to affected countries.

He noted Bahrain’s appreciation of positive regional developments, including the continuation of the humanitarian truce in Yemen, Syria’s return to the comprehensive Arab League, and the resumption of Saudi-Iranian diplomatic relations.

He stressed Bahrain’s call on the international community to continue its commitment to strengthening security and stability in Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Libya and Afghanistan, as well as ensuring the success of international mediation efforts to achieve peace between the two countries. Russia and Ukraine on the basis of mutual respect, principles of good neighborliness, respect for international law, state sovereignty, stability, territorial integrity and religious and cultural values, non-interference in the internal affairs of states, creating a stable environment to meet the challenges of effective development.

The foreign ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement member states also stressed the importance of involving youth in the process of implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including the preparation and implementation of national development policies.

The closing statement of the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Coordination Office stressed the importance of the King Hamad Award for Youth Empowerment to achieve the goals of sustainable development, as a global award and one of the pioneering initiatives in the field of youth empowerment and skills development launched by the Kingdom in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program.
