Morocco condemns the burning of a copy of the Holy Quran in Sweden

Manama, June 29 (BNA): Morocco has condemned the burning of a copy of the Noble Qur’an in front of a mosque in Stockholm, Sweden, yesterday.

Morocco’s Foreign Ministry said this new offensive and irresponsible act disregards the feelings of more than a billion Muslims during this sacred period of Hajj and Eid al-Adha, MAP reported.

“Regardless of the political positions or differences that may exist between countries, the Kingdom considers it unacceptable to disrespect the faith of Muslims in this way, and the principles of tolerance and the values of universality cannot be reduced to accommodating the opinions of a few while showing no regard for the beliefs of more than a billion Muslims.” “.

The ministry said that the Swedish charge d’affaires in Rabat was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, and the Moroccan ambassador to Sweden was summoned for consultations for an indefinite period.
