Seoul, June 17 (BNA): North Korea held a major party meeting to discuss the country’s diplomatic and defense strategies in response to the “changing international situation” in the presence of its leader Kim Jong Un, state media reported today, Saturday.

Kim took part in the eighth “expanded plenary meeting” of the Eighth Central Committee of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea that opened Friday, according to the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

The agency said in an English-language report that the meeting will discuss “the issue of the country’s diplomatic and defense strategy to deal with the changing international situation” and review the economic projects implemented in the first half of this year.

Yonhap said the participants unanimously agreed on the agenda items, and the meeting entered into discussions, indicating that it is likely to be held for several days, Yonhap reported.
