Manama, June 21 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the Public Authority for Sports and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, assumed the presidency of the Supreme Council for Sports. He stressed the importance of the partnership between the Public Authority for Sports and various local universities to provide appropriate educational opportunities for players to create a decent generation that cares about sports in addition to science and knowledge.
His Highness Sheikh Khalid was speaking while attending the signing ceremony of a memorandum of cooperation between the Public Authority for Sports, the Bahrain University of Technology (UTB) and the Arab Open University (AOU).
He said that these agreements aim to encourage players to pursue higher education and obtain the highest academic degrees to qualify them for a professional life in addition to their sports life.
His Highness Sheikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Financial Regulatory Authority, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, Dr. Diana Al Jahrami, Secretary General of the Higher Education Council, and Hisham Al Rayes, CEO of GFH Financial Group. Attended the signing ceremony.
His Highness Sheikh Khaled valued the universities’ cooperation and praised their role in encouraging athletes to develop their capabilities in various academic fields.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by Dr. Abdul Rahman Askar, CEO of the General Authority for Public Service, Dr. Hassan Ali Al-Mulla, President of UTB, and Dr. Gharamallah Al-Ghamdi, President of the Arab Open University.
