Saudi Arabia wins ISO membership

Riyadh, Sept. 21 (BNA): Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organisation (SASO), has won membership of the Council of the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) for the period 2024-2026, as per the results of the ISO elections which took place during the 45th General Assembly meeting held in Brisbane, Australia.


The meetings witnessed intensive activity by SASO’s delegation, headed by its Governor Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Qasabi.


According to SPA, several bilateral meetings were held on the sidelines of the organisation’s meetings to coordinate cooperation and integration in standardization activities with national, regional, and international standardization bodies.


 ISO, established in 1947, is the international grouping of all national standardization bodies worldwide. The organization has more than 160 members, and the Kingdom, represented by SASO, joined the organization in 1972.
