UN-Habitat Executive Director praises Bahrain’s housing services

New York, July 18 (BNA): Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, met Maymoona Sharif, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat), at the United Nations headquarters. .

The meeting discussed housing and urban planning issues at the United Nations Summit on Sustainable Development. The Bahrain delegation participated in a seminar on innovative and sustainable solutions for adequate housing, demonstrating their commitment to sustainable services.

The meeting reviewed the results of the UN-Habitat meetings held last month in Nairobi, and Bahrain’s keenness on joint decisions regarding the sustainability of housing services for citizens.

The minister highlighted the latest developments in the ministry’s housing projects to provide citizens with services in cooperation with the private sector.

And she emphasized the achievement of the second edition of the housing finance exhibition last June, which received more than 24,000 visitors, as a positive sign of citizens’ interest and keenness to benefit from all kinds of financing services.

Al-Rumaihi also presented the initial phase of the government’s land development rights program, which was embodied in 93% of housing unit reservations, which reflects the success of the government’s vision of adopting innovative policies aimed at providing immediate and sustainable housing services.

The Executive Director of UN-Habitat praised the Kingdom’s efforts in providing housing services to citizens, which she witnessed during her recent visit to Bahrain.

She highlighted Bahrain’s success and progress in international reports, wishing the Kingdom more success and progress.
