Manama, July 6 (BNA): Shura Council Speaker Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh stressed the importance of investing in modern artificial intelligence technologies and applications to achieve sustainable development goals.
He pointed out that Bahrain is making great efforts to keep pace with the rapid development in the world and seeks to be a pioneer in the region in the field of artificial intelligence.
This came during his opening speech at the 3rd International Data Conference “The Future of Everything”, organized by the International Group on Artificial Intelligence (IGOAI), in partnership with the Nasser Vocational Training Center (NVTC). Participants included speakers from Spain, the United Kingdom, China, Morocco, India, Lebanon and Bahrain.
Al-Saleh said that the legislative authority is keen to enact modern legislation that makes the legislative system up-to-date with technological development, appreciating the efforts made between the legislative and executive authorities to achieve common goals.
He highlighted Bahrain’s initiatives to promote and develop artificial intelligence, provide a suitable work environment for scientists and innovators in this field, and support young people in the field of modern technology and data science.
Dr. Jassim Haji, President of the Conference and President of the IGOAI Community, praised the support of the Shura Council Speaker in empowering women in artificial intelligence, especially in the conference, which included exclusive female speakers in all its three editions.
Dr. Haji announced that CEOs of the public and private sectors will be honored by His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of the Public Authority for Sports and the Bahrain Olympic Committee. (BOC) Chief, on 20 July.
The honoring ceremony will be the first of its kind in the Arab countries and the Middle East for artificial intelligence and talent empowerment.
