Neuer sidelined for ‘coming weeks’ after knee surgery – Bayern

Munich, February 7 (BNA) German football club Bayern Munich said that he will miss Manuel Neuer “the next weeks” after the goalkeeper underwent knee surgery on Sunday.

Neuer played in Bayern Munich’s 3-2 league win over RB Leipzig on Saturday, bypassing a late bid by Swedish striker Emil Forsberg to claim a record 310 Bundesliga win, and a draw with Oliver Kahn, Reuters reported.

While Bayern Munich has not specified how long Neuer will be sidelined, the 35-year-old said on social media that the surgery went well, and that he was hoping to be back in “two weeks”.

“All of us at the club and team wish Manuel a speedy recovery and we are sure that he will be back in full shape with us soon,” Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said in a statement.

Bayern face VFL Bochum on Saturday, before facing Austrian Salzburg in the Champions League knockout match on February 17.
