Nationwide lockdown imminent in Austria

Vienna Nov 19 (BUS): Austria is facing a new nationwide lockdown, according to several local media reports.

The reports said the government had agreed with the nine federal states to impose another lockdown to curb the fourth wave of the pandemic.

The Kronen Zeitung newspaper reported that the restrictions would apply for an initial period of 10 days.

The country is experiencing a severe fourth wave, with the seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population at 1,000, according to the latest available data.
