National Space Science Agency, European Space Agency discuss cooperation

Manama, Aug. 9 (BNA) The National Space Science Agency (NSSA) held a meeting with the European Space Agency (ESA) and discussed joint cooperation.

The CEO of the National Social Security Authority, Dr. Mohammed Al-Asiri, headed the Bahraini side in the meeting, which shed light on the activities and projects of the authority, as well as the spatial program of the European Space Agency.

The meeting also focused on the “Galileo” navigation system project, the “Copernicus” project for Earth observation and the “Ignos” data correction system project, in addition to a number of future and research projects.

He stressed the importance of exchanging experiences and knowledge in the space sector, empowering NSSA employees and providing them with more experiences and skills in the fields of space science.

The budget for the European Space Program for the next five years is estimated at around 15 billion euros. This massive program is expected to create more than 250,000 space-related jobs on the European continent alone.

The value of global investments in the space sector in 2021 exceeded 469 billion dollars. to reach a trillion dollars before the end of the current decade.
