Nasser bin Hamad receives Municipalities Affairs Minister

Manama, Dec. 13 (BNA): His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, stressed the importance that the Kingdom of Bahrain attaches to the environment sector. He referred to the various development programs and initiatives that were implemented during the reign of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He pointed to the continuous progress in Bahrain’s afforestation plan to achieve the desired goals.

This came during a speech by His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa during his reception today, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, in the presence of the Undersecretary of Municipal Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, and the Undersecretary of Livestock, Dr. Khalid Ahmed, Acting Minister. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources.

His Highness revealed that the afforestation plan is proceeding in accordance with the goals and visions set by the government under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He stressed that the scheme will continue to develop the agricultural sector to meet the local challenges posed by climate change.

His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa listened to a detailed presentation on the achievements made during the past period with regard to the expansion of afforestation throughout the Kingdom.

The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture highlighted the ministry’s plan for afforestation, which aims to double the number of trees from 1.8 million to about 3.6 million by 2035, in line with Bahrain’s commitment to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26).
