Manama, Dec. 8 (BNA): The directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, contributed to the provision of health care services in nine health centers operating around the clock throughout the Kingdom.
The round-the-clock operations of health care centers have contributed to enhancing and sustaining health sector services, and the efficiency of direct dealing with daily cases, reducing the number of cases referred to government hospitals, and enabling them to do so. Deal only with difficult cases.
Since their opening, the primary health care centers have contributed around the clock to following up on urgent cases according to an approved international classification, taking into account symptoms and vital signs. Urgent cases are assessed in primary health care centers using the ‘Modified Manchester System’ and the ‘Canadian System’.
The opening of the 24-hour centers led to direct results related to ease of access to service and an improvement in the quality of performance.
And the statistics on urgent cases in the nine centers confirmed the reinforcement, which recorded, from July 2021 to June 2022, more than 3,133,000 visits to all departments of the center.
The percentage of appointments in the departments of urgent cases constituted only 8.2% of the total number of visits, which amounted to 257,059 visits.
Among the visits to the urgent cases department, 7.9% (20182) were referred to the emergency department in government hospitals, and 13.9% of the total referrals were by ambulance.
Primary health care is the cornerstone of sustainable health systems needed to achieve universal health coverage and the health-related Sustainable Development Goals.
The primary health care approach relies on a wide range of policies to address the main causes and risks leading to disease, in addition to providing preventive, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitative services.
The health centers operating around the clock are: North Muharraq Health Center and BBK Center in Muharraq Governorate, Hamad Kanoo Health Center, Youssef Engineer Health Center, Jaw Askar Health Center in the Southern Governorate, Sitra Health Center and Jidhafs Health Center in the capital. Governorate, Muhammad Jassim Kanoo Health Center, and Sheikh Jaber Health Center in the Northern Governorate.
