More Covid patients flown out of overwhelmed German hospitals

Munich, Nov 28 (BNA): The German state of Bavaria operated more transfers on Saturday from hospitals overwhelmed by the COVID-19 crisis.

And the German news agency (dpa) quoted a spokesman for the Ministry of the Interior in the southern region as saying that “some flights have already been made.”

Two patients were taken from the Bavarian capital, Munich, to Hamburg in the north, and others to Cologne, Dusseldorf and Dortmund in the west. The spokesman added that three others will be transported by ambulances to hospitals in the states of Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate in the southwest.

On Friday, an Airbus military plane transported six patients in intensive care to hospitals outside Bavaria for treatment. The plane is due to return to service on Sunday, when it is scheduled to carry six more patients to northern Germany. Other flights were operated using private air ambulance aircraft.

In total, about 30 patients in intensive care are scheduled to be flown from Bavaria on Sunday evening.
