Monfils ranks five-set comeback win at French Open as one of his best

Paris, May 31 (BNA): Gael Monfils said his epic five-set victory over Sebastien Paez at the French Open on Tuesday was one of the greatest matches of his career.

The 36-year-old Frenchman was one point away from losing 5-0 in the deciding set of the nearly four-hour match before mounting a thrilling comeback to win 3-6 6-3 7-5 1-6 7-5. Under the spotlight at the court of Philippe Chatrier, Reuters reports.

Monfils, who reached a career-high sixth in the world in 2016, made his last grand slam appearance in the quarter-finals of the 2022 Australian Open before missing last season due to heel surgery.
