Minister of Works inspects progress of work at Muharraq STP

Manama, November 2 (BNA) Minister of Works Ibrahim bin Hassan Al-Hawaj visited the Muharraq sewage treatment plant to inspect the work progress of the plant, which is managed by the private sector.

Al-Hawaj explained that the Muharraq project represents one of the important strategic projects for the sanitation sector, which has been assigned to the private sector.

He added that the ministry has developed a strategic plan to achieve decentralization in the establishment of treatment plants, which will contribute to a qualitative leap in the wastewater sector.

The minister was briefed on the sewage system in Muharraq with a capacity of 100,000 cubic meters per day, which can be expanded to 160,000 cubic meters per day.

Al-Hawaj explained that the ministry has adopted a strategy of decentralization in the operation of the sewage network through the establishment of treated water plants and transmission lines to ensure the optimal operation of the sewage system, and to increase the absorptive capacity to receive daily flows. Which contributes to expanding the circle of beneficiaries.
