Minister Al-Sairafi urges concerted efforts to revitalise tourism sector

Manama, October 18 (BNA) Tourism Minister Fatima bint Jaafar Al-Sirafi stressed the importance of intensifying efforts by all parties and workers in the tourism sector to give a greater boost to the sector in light of the statistics. It confirms that it has fully recovered from the effects of the Corona virus pandemic, and the Kingdom’s readiness to host mega events, such as the opening of the new Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Center, the Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix, and the Bahrain International Air Show, among others.

While receiving here today the President and members of the Bahrain Tourism and Travel Agents Association (ABTTA). The Minister affirmed the Ministry of Tourism’s support to all partners in the tourism sector in order to achieve the common goals of promoting the sector and continuing to enhance performance and achieve higher occupancy rates.

Minister Al-Serafy stressed the role of Abta as a civil institution representing the owners of private tourist establishments, stressing that the doors of the Ministry of Tourism are always open to listen and discuss the visions of the association and implement the appropriate visions within the limits of the available capabilities, in accordance with the procedures and laws and within the Kingdom’s tourism strategy 2022-2026.

During the meeting, Al-Serafi highlighted the current and future plans of the Ministry of Tourism and the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, including revitalizing the medical tourism sector, noting the association’s role in supporting this plan by promoting the Kingdom as a destination. The two sides discussed other topics including the development of travel and tourism agencies’ systems, as well as facilitating their accession and activation of their membership in the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which represents a commercial link that brings together international airlines. .

They also discussed training workers in the tourism sector in various fields, including air transport.

The Chairman of the Association’s Board of Directors, Jihad Amin, praised the Ministry of Tourism’s keenness to establish an effective and lasting partnership with the private tourism sector, holding consultations, and allowing participation in the decision-making process and the development of the tourism sector in general.

He stressed Abta’s keenness to adopt the plans of the Ministry of Tourism, indicating that the private sector should bear its responsibility in enhancing the competitiveness of the Bahraini tourism sector by providing attractive and innovative programs and events, and benefiting from modern technologies in the tourism industry. Adopting a sustainability approach, and promoting tourism destinations in Bahrain locally, regionally and internationally.
