Messi ruled out of PSG game against Montpellier

French club Paris Saint-Germain announced today, Friday, the exclusion of Lionel Messi from the Paris Saint-Germain match against Montpellier, as he did not fully recover from a bone injury.

Messi sustained a blow to his left knee and an MRI scan earlier this week confirmed signs of a bone bruise. Reuters said he missed PSG’s 2-1 win over Metz on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old Argentine striker, who joined the French club from Barcelona on a two-year contract in August, will be assessed again on Sunday – ahead of the Champions League match against Manchester City next week.

Paris Saint-Germain added that midfielder Marco Verratti will return to training on Sunday, while defender Sergio Ramos, who has not made his first match for the club, continues to train individually after recovering from a calf injury.

The club leads the Ligue 1 standings with a perfect winning record of seven matches.
