Medvedev beats Sinner in straight sets for Miami Open title

Washington, April 2 (BNA): Daniil Medvedev clinched his fourth ATP title of the year Sunday by defeating Yannick Siner 7-5, 6-3 to claim the men’s singles title at the Miami Open and move on to win 6-0 in the match of their career. .

Medvedev is now the hottest player on the men’s tour, winning 24 of his last 25 matches after a victory that lasted 1 hour and 34 minutes. His only loss came to world number one Carlos Alcaraz in last week’s final in Indian Wells.

Sinner ran out of magic, with a three-hour win late on Friday night over Alcaraz in the semi-finals when he had mild cramps in the second set and was looking to impress the 21-year-old Italian.

While Medvedev won titles this year in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai, this is the Russian’s first title on American soil since the 2021 US Open, when he derailed Novak Djokovic’s attempt to win a grand slam.
