Man accused of hacking ATM machine remanded in custody

Manama, May 2 (BNA) An expatriate man accused of hacking an ATM in Barbar by installing a special device was arrested pending investigation by the police and security photography.

The Public Prosecutor of the Northern Governorate said, “The accused was interrogated and confronted with what was found in his possession.”

The Directorate for Combating Economic Crimes informed the Public Prosecution about the suspect, who was caught red-handed.

An engineer specializing in ATMs confirmed that the seized devices were used by the accused to hack the ATM.

The information technology engineer concluded, “The accused has experience in this field, especially as he managed to penetrate the ATM machine despite the available protection systems.”

The accused will appear before the Criminal Court pending the completion of the investigation.
