Singapore, Jan. 30 (BNA): Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim believes that food security is one of the areas of cooperation that can be explored with Singapore for the benefit of both countries.

Anwar, who is on a one-day official visit to Singapore, said this new area can be explored amidst outstanding issues that both Malaysia and Singapore need to focus more on.

Malaysian news agency Bernama reported that earlier today the two leaders witnessed the signing of three memorandums of understanding that will enhance cooperation in new and emerging areas, specifically in digital and green economies and cybersecurity.

In his speech, Lee said that he and Anwar had a “productive discussion earlier today, including how the two countries can make progress on outstanding bilateral issues.”

“As close friends and neighbors, the destinies of Singapore and Malaysia are intertwined. When we work constructively together, we produce win-win outcomes with tangible benefits for our people and businesses,” he said.

“I am confident that with Prime Minister Anwar’s support, Singapore-Malaysian relations can reach greater heights.”

Earlier, Anwar held a meeting with Lee before calling President Halima Yacoub.

President Halima will visit Malaysia soon. “It’s a clear sign that the relationship is active,” Anwar said.
