Louvre Abu Dhabi announces region’s most comprehensive Impressionist exhibition

Abu Dhabi, August 11 / BNA / In celebration of its fifth anniversary, the Louvre Abu Dhabi announced that it will present to Abu Dhabi the most comprehensive impressionist exhibition ever in the region entitled “Impressionism: Paths Toward Modernity”, which is being organized in partnership. With the Musée d’Orsay and the Museums of France, and in collaboration with many of the leading French institutions.


Set to run from October 12, 2022 to February 5, 2023, the exhibition will explore the emerging new world between the mid-1850s and the end of the 19th century, highlighting the exceptional creativity of artists in their response to these profound economic and social factors. The exhibition includes more than 100 paintings, 40 drawings and prints, 20 photographs and five dresses from that era, as well as a contemporary video installation. The exhibition is mainly from the collections of the Musée d’Orsay Impressionism, which is the first of its kind in the world. Artwork also comes from the permanent collection of the Louvre Abu Dhabi and jointly from the collections of notable French institutions.


Director of Louvre Abu Dhabi, Manuel Rapatti, said: “Impressionism: Paths to Modernity marks a milestone for Louvre Abu Dhabi as we prepare to celebrate its fifth anniversary this November and continue to affirm an unwavering commitment to creating world-class exhibitions with first-hand performances.
