LMRA: Eight agencies reported for labour market violations

Manama, Nov. 17 (BNA): The Labor Market Regulatory Authority, in cooperation with the General Department for Crime Detection, Criminal Evidence, and Passports and Residence Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, carried out an inspection campaign.

The campaign resulted in the reporting of eight violating offices that supply domestic workers by the hour without a license from the authority. They were referred to the competent authorities to take legal action in their regard.

16 expatriate workers were arrested for violating the provisions of the labor market and residence laws in the Kingdom of Bahrain, including expatriate domestic workers who violated their work permits.

The authority stressed the importance of the role of society in supporting the efforts of government agencies to combat illegal labor practices, stressing the need to deal only with approved recruitment offices and supply agencies, which are updated weekly on the website.

The authority also called on the public to report any violations related to the labor market and illegal employment by filling out the electronic form on the authority’s website, or calling the authority’s call center 17506055.
