LMRA Chief meets with US Department of State officials

Washington, Dec. 6 (BNA): The CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, Nouf Abdul Rahman Jamsheer, held a series of meetings with officials from the US State Department in Washington, DC.

She met with the Acting Director and Principal Deputy of the US State Department’s Office of Monitoring and Combating Trafficking in Persons, Dr. Carrie Johnston, and Director of the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Steve Moody, the director of the office. During the meetings, Jamsheer highlighted the ongoing reforms in the Bahraini labor market, including the implementation of the Wage Protection System, and the introduction of the Employment Registration Program in cooperation with the private sector.

The CEO also reviewed the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in combating human trafficking and the mechanisms and initiatives to provide protection for workers through the Migrant Workers Protection Center, which is the first comprehensive and specialized center in the Middle East concerned with the protection of migrant workers.

Jamsheer stressed the importance of exchanging experiences in developing procedures and systems that contribute to enhancing the work environment, stressing the Kingdom’s commitment to further developing cooperation with the United States in this regard.
