Liverpool bolsters attacking options by signing Luis Diaz

Liverpool Jan. 30 (BUS): Liverpool signed Luis Diaz from Porto on Sunday to bolster their attacking options on the penultimate day of the January transfer window, the Associated Press reported.

The 25-year-old Colombia international has not been given a British work permit to complete a transfer in which Porto will receive 45 million euros ($50 million) and possibly an additional 15 million euros in the coming years depending on Diaz’s success with Liverpool.

Diaz is a skilled and exciting winger who has played for Porto since July 2019. He tied with Argentine Lionel Messi as the Copa America’s top scorer last season. Colombia will play Argentina in the World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.

Liverpool is next in the FA Cup matches on Sunday against Cardiff. The team is second in the English Premier League, nine points behind Manchester City, with a postponed match against the Champions.
