Lebanese female dance troupe Mayyas wins America’s Got Talent

Las Vegas, Sept. 15 (BUS): Lebanese women’s dance group Mayas won the America’s Got Talent final and took home the million dollar prize and a major show in Las Vegas.

The Mayyas—whose victory made them the season seventeenth champ—first caught America’s attention during their audition, prompting judge Sofia Vergara to press the Golden Buzzer.

During the live performances, the band presented another hypnotic dance routine that fellow judge and executive producer Simon Cowell predicted would “change the world,” Al Arabiya news channel reported.

In the end, the crew wowed both the judges and the audience with their choreography and outstanding performance in feathered white costumes and shimmering balls of light, winning a standing ovation from the judges and the audience.

“This is what the Million Dollar Act looks like,” said fellow judge Heidi Klum. “I brought an A game every time I came, and tonight, it was even better.”

Simon Cowell said the performance was “amazing”.

“Something has happened to you where I’m starting to get a fuss outside of the show. It’s come. It’s my world. It’s huge. I don’t think you can top that.”

“This is my all-time favorite AGT job,” said Judge Howie Mandel. “How great it is to you. It is wonderful to a woman; it is wonderful to empowering women.”

Mayas, (which means proud walk of a lioness, according to the crew), wowed the judges during their auditions, saying they wanted to show the world what an Arab woman can do.

According to Al Arabiya, the crew lined up in identical gold outfits and collectively clasped their hands, waiting for the announcement of who will be crowned champions.

The group cried en masse and leapt into the air as the winners were named to a standing ovation from the audience.

Nadim Cherfan, acting choreographer, founded Mayas in Beirut.

In 2019, the group appeared in the sixth series of Arabs Got Talent and went on to win the series, receiving a new car and a cash prize of $53,333.
