Labour Minister highlights Bahrain’s rich voluntary work record

Manama, December 4 (BNA): The Kingdom joins the world in celebrating the International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development, which is celebrated all over the world on the fifth of December.

The United Nations General Assembly adopted the International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development through Resolution A/RES/40/212 on December 17, 1985 with the aim of raising awareness of the important contribution of volunteer service, and motivating more people in general. Walks of life to offer their services as volunteers, both at home and abroad.

On this occasion, Minister of Labor and Social Development Jamil bin Muhammad Ali Humaidan affirmed that Bahrain has a proven track record of volunteer work, whose programs stem from the needs of the community, pointing to the unprecedented voluntary campaigns launched during the past two years to confront the novel coronavirus pandemic, living evidence of Bahrainis keenness to support Official authorities whenever the need arises to respond to the call of duty and volunteer for the homeland.

Humaidan pointed out that the annual event provides an opportunity to honor all workers in the voluntary, social and charitable fields to shed light on their achievements and encourage them to continue their dedication and giving.

He pointed out that it is an opportunity to instill a love of voluntary and social work in the hearts of young people, as it is an authentic human and social value established by the Islamic religion, and deeply rooted in the history of the Bahraini people.

He pointed out that Bahrain enjoys an integrated professional volunteer work system as a result of His Majesty’s reform projects, noting that there are up to 632 civil organizations supervised by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, which reflects Bahrain’s leadership in supporting and facilitating volunteer work. Procedures to ensure the achievement of its humanitarian, charitable and social objectives.
