Labour Minister chairs GCC meetings

Manama, September 21 (BNA) The Minister of Labor and Social Development, Jamil bin Muhammad Ali Humaidan, chaired today the seventh meeting of the GCC Labor Ministers Committee and the seventh meeting of the GCC Social Affairs Ministers Committee.

The meetings were attended by the Ministers of Labor and Social Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Dr. Nayef Falah Al-Hajraf.

In the opening speech of the two meetings, the Minister of Labor and Social Development conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and their good wishes. From every success of the session to come up with decisions to support Gulf action.

Humaidan praised the final statement and the “Al-Ula Declaration”, which emphasized the importance of preserving Gulf achievements. He referred to the Supreme Council’s directives to focus on economic and development projects aimed at enhancing the welfare of the citizens of the GCC countries. He also stressed the importance of the decisions reached in the labor and social fields, including adopting policies to keep pace with changes in the Gulf labor markets, embracing successful experiences to keep unemployment rates low, and creating decent job opportunities with added value that guarantee economically. Social stability and the promotion of the spirit of social solidarity.

The Minister of Labor and Social Development also highlighted the repercussions of the Corona Virus (Covid-19) pandemic. He stressed, in this context, that the Gulf Cooperation Council countries face many challenges in the labor markets, indicating their ability to overcome the crisis through the financial packages provided to ensure economic stability. He referred to the health services provided to all citizens and residents in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
