The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Secretary-General of the Federation Abdul Qader Abdul Karim Al-Shehabi, representatives of exporting and importing countries of domestic labour, and representatives of civil society organizations from 11 countries. conspiracy.

The conference aims to shed light on national legislation and laws related to migrant domestic workers in order to strengthen cooperation mechanisms between labor organizations in Asia, Africa and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and to ensure that domestic workers enjoy the same rights that they enjoy. by their counterparts in other sectors.

The conference reviewed a research study on the reality of domestic workers in Bahrain, in addition to the legislation in the labor-hosting countries and the extent of achieving domestic worker protection.

In his speech at the opening ceremony of the conference, the Minister of Labor affirmed Bahrain’s determination to continue protecting the rights of all workers, based on the human values ​​system led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin. He stressed that the Kingdom has issued a countless number of regulations, procedures and regulations that provide protection for all.

He also highlighted the measures taken by the Labor Market Regulatory Authority to ensure protection for all expatriate workers, including domestic workers.

The Secretary-General of the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions said that the conference will discuss a number of issues related to domestic labor and its impact on the living conditions of citizens.

He added that a number of studies that contribute to strengthening the preservation of the rights of workers and employers will be reviewed.
