Kristoffersen gets 2nd win in 2 days, leads slalom standings

Berlin, Feb. 27 (BUS): Henrik Kristoffersen completed a turnaround in the World Cup slalom season on Sunday with his second win in two days, according to the Associated Press today.

The Norwegian was riding below par in his 2021-22 campaign, which did not include a top-10 result and two DNFs in his first four races, leading him to replace the long-term ski technician.

Now, the Norwegian is the first skater this season to have multiple slalom victories with the previous seven races featuring seven different winners.

He leads the slalom standings by 49 points with two races remaining, and is on track to winning his third career title.

Kristofferson came from behind to claim his 21st victory in the slalom on Sunday after the top three skaters from round one failed to finish the race.

Kristoffersen finished eighth after the second leg, but the Norwegian led the fourth-fastest time in the final round. Then he watched the next seven contestants all fail to beat his time, and four of them didn’t even make it to the finish.

The top three after the first round – Swiss skiers Loc Meillard and Ramon Zenhäusern and Austrian Johannes Strolz – were all on either side of the gate on the icy track, with the first gates set to create unusually sharp turns, making it hard to find a rhythm from a start.

The second race track was set by Dave Riding coach Tristan Glass-Davies and suited the British skater, as he climbed from 19th to second, 0.35 behind Kristofferson.
