Korean concert marks 45 years of diplomatic ties with Bahrain

Manama, November 10 (BNA): To celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Korea, the Dasrum troupe, consisting of a women’s room, held its first performances in the Kingdom, amid strict adherence to the precautionary measures initiated by the National Authority. The live concert of Korean traditional music is jointly organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bahrain and the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) as part of the diplomatic mission program to celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In his welcoming speech, Korean Ambassador to Bahrain Hye Kwan Chung praised the occasion and thanked the Bahrain Airport Authority for its cooperation and wished to celebrate many joint annual events.

“I hope that this performance will not only provide a charming introduction to Korean traditional music, but also provide a meaningful and comforting solace to all of us who have gone through difficult times amid the pandemic,” the ambassador said.

The all-women band played a number of pieces of music from Korean folklore, K-pop and Bahraini folklore, while using traditional Korean musical instruments.

Sheikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director-General of Culture and Arts, made short statements on the occasion.

“Culture is what unites nations and strengthens relations between peoples,” she said. “Diplomatic relations between Bahrain and South Korea are steadily developing and flourishing as the days go by.”

Sheikha Hala expressed her happiness at BACA’s hosting of the traditional Korean concert, noting that music is a unified language through which peoples’ consciences can be addressed and communication between different civilizations.

“Cultural achievements are achieved thanks to the close cooperation between the various parties,” she said.

The concert “DASRUM.. STAY STRONG” will be held for the second time on November 11th in the Cultural Hall.
