Konsa double earns Villa 2-1 win over Leicester in EPL

London, Dec. 5 (BUS): Esri Konsa scored twice as Aston Villa beat Leicester 2-1 in the Premier League on Sunday and continues their recovery under Steven Gerrard.

The defender’s first goals in 13 months – in front of England boss Gareth Southgate – came after Harvey Barnes opened the scoring in the 14th minute.

Villa have won three of Gerrard’s four games in training since he replaced Dean Smith last month and moved up to 10th in the league, ahead of Leicester.

Video Assistant Referee Jacob Ramsey was denied a goal in the first half, a decision that inspired Villa to put in a superb display in the second half that ultimately decided the match.

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers gambled and started Jamie Vardy on the bench, citing the team’s rotation, and his replacement Batson Dhaka made an early impact when Barnes scored for his goal.

The Zambian international weathered two Villa challenges before finding Barnes on the left and the winger showed great composure to fire the ball into the bottom corner.
