Kipchoge eyes third straight Olympic marathon gold at Paris

Paris, Oct. 5 (BUS): Eliud Kipchoge became the third man to win a consecutive Olympic marathon title at the Tokyo Olympics last year, but the 37-year-old Kenyan said he wanted the record for himself and would do so. Go gold again in Paris 2024, Reuters reports.

“I am confident that all things will carry me well into 2024 to present myself at the starting line,” Kipchoge, who broke his own world record in the Berlin Marathon last month, told the BBC on Tuesday.

“What I love is history. Being the first human to run three times in a row and win a gold medal in an Olympic marathon, that’s my list of things.”

Kipchoge is the only man to run a two-hour marathon when he clocked 1:59.40 on a custom-built track in Vienna in 2019, but the time is officially unknown as it is not set in competition.
