Kia EV6 named 2022 European Car of the Year

Seoul, March 1 (BUS): Kia Motors Corporation announced Tuesday that its all-electric EV6 sedan has been awarded the 2022 European Car of the Year (ECOTY) award, the first time a South Korean auto brand has won the award.

At a gala in Geneva on Monday, the Kia EV6 was awarded the coveted ECOTY award, beating out six models, Hyundai IONIQ 5, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Skoda Enyaq iV, Cupra Born, Renault Megane E-Tech and Peugeot 308. Hyundai Motor scooped All-electric company IONIQ 5 is in third place.

The EV6 was voted first by a 61-person jury made up of prestigious auto journalists from 23 European countries, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported.

It added that Kia had sold 11,302 units of the EV6 as of the end of January since sales of the all-electric crossover began in Europe in October of last year.
