Khorfakkan wins Best Feature Film Award at Italy’s Vision Film Festival

Sharjah, March 16 (BNA): The Khorfakkan film, written by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and produced by the Sharjah Radio and Television Authority in 2020, continues to dazzle audiences and win first places. Awards at film festivals around the world. The latest honor that has come its way is the award for Best Feature Film at the 8th Vision Festival held in Italy after a large number of international films competed in this category. The Vision Film Festival in Italy is well regarded by the international website IMDB dedicated to world cinema and television.

Khorfakkan was shown this week at the Vigano Theater in Rome for the audience of the Vision Film Festival, after it was translated into Italian. The film elicited a standing ovation from the audience at the Vijano Theatre, which can accommodate more than 500 spectators.

The award was received by Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority and the executive producer of the work, on behalf of the film’s writer, Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi. The Emirates News Agency (WAM) stated that the film also won the Best Direction Award.

Speaking on this occasion, the Director General of the Authority affirmed that through these films, the Authority sought to shed light on the history of the Emirate of Sharjah in one of the most distinguished stages in its history.

Khalaf pointed out that the Khorfakkan film met with great admiration and popularity among the Emirati and Arab audiences, and under the directives of its author, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, it was translated into a number of international languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. The film was also shown in Saudi Arabia, Portugal and Italy.

He added, “A creative work of the size of the Khorfakkan film deserves to be a model for the Emirati and Arab film industry, as it is a film based on historical facts that His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi the Supreme Council.” A member and ruler of Sharjah, he conducted careful research and documentation, and the film reflects the historical reality. The film is the most important production of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, and it was produced in cooperation with Jet Go Films Limited. It is directed by Irish director Maurice Sweeney and Ben Mole of Britain. Ashraf Ali is the film’s technical producer. More than 300 professionals were involved in the production of the film.

The film is currently available as part of in-flight entertainment on a number of national and Gulf airlines, as well as Miraya, the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority’s digital platform.
