London, Aug. 21 (BNA) Harry Kane set a Premier League record for the number of goals for a single team, as Tottenham Hotspur scored a 1-0 home win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, making it top the table.
Tottenham were bested in the first half, but it was a different proposition after the break, as Kane pounced in the 64th minute to score his 185th Premier League goal. , according to Reuters reports.
No other player has scored more goals for a single club in the Premier League era, as England captain Kane dumped Sergio Aguero’s credit for Manchester City.
Wolves, who have not won in the last 10 matches in the Premier League, scored 12 attempts with a goal against Tottenham in the first half but could not achieve their supremacy.
Spurs then found some extra gears to control, with both Kane and Son Heung-min being denied due to woodwork before Kane fired in from Ivan Perisic’s corner.
It was Tottenham’s 1,000th Premier League goal at home and lifted it to seven points from its first three games, one point ahead of champions Manchester City, who play on Sunday, and Arsenal who play later on Saturday.
Wolves have one point from their first three matches.
Kane had barely looked through a frustrating first half in which Wolves’ confidence grew and he regularly skipped the Tottenham defense but failed to seriously test Hugo Lloris.

Minutes after Dejan Kulusevsky’s cross crossed the crossbar, Kane found space in the penalty area to defeat Wolverhampton goalkeeper Jose Sa with one of the simplest goals of his career.
When asked about Aguero’s crossover, Kane said: “It’s been a great nine or ten years in the Premier League. I hope there will be many more years. I always love to score.”
Adding to the achievements, it was Kane’s 250th goal in all competitions with Tottenham.
“It was thanks to Wolverhampton that they made it difficult,” he said. “In the second half we came out strong. We created chances and pushed better. We deserved the goal.”
While Spurs have started the season impressively, Kane acknowledged they need to improve.
“Credit to the players, they dug deep. We need to start matches better. We need to improve. But the mark of a good team is to win when you don’t play to your best,” he said.
Wolverhampton, who have selected seven Portuguese players in the starting line-up, will regret not taking advantage of a great first half.
Robin Nevis curled one, Daniel Bodens snatched a chance and Matthews Nunes, on his debut, went as close as possible with a header that drifted just wide of the Spurs goal.
