Amman, November 13 (BNA) Jordanian deputies today elected Representative Ahmed Al-Safadi as Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported that Safadi won the presidency of the House of Representatives in its second ordinary session, after obtaining 104 parliamentary votes.
Safadi’s rival for the presidency, MP Firas Sawyer, received 13 votes.
128 deputies participated in the voting and 11 ballot papers were cancelled.
Representatives Muhammad Shatnawi, Zainab Badoul and Fawaz Al-Zoubi announced their withdrawal from the competition prior to the voting process.
