Jordan: Return to schools delayed until February 20

Amman, Jan. 16 (BNA): Returning to schools for the second semester of the 2021/2022 academic year in Jordan has been postponed to February 20, according to the Ministry of Education’s decision announced on Sunday.

According to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), the decision applies to all public and private schools that teach the national curriculum and targets grades from kindergarten to grade eleven, according to the ministry’s statement.

And the Ministry’s Central Planning Committee said that only twelfth grade students (Tawjihi) will start work as planned, on the first of February, noting that the decision was necessitated by the epidemiological situation in Jordan and the world.

As for schools with international programs, the committee gave them the option to start on February 20 or start the semester on the specified date on February 1, provided that classes will be held remotely until February 20 when in-person education begins nationwide.
